We love our community. We love being a part of down east Maine. We are so grateful to every one of our guests who make us feel welcome. Because we love our community, we are always looking for ways to help where there is a need. Unfortunately, in Maine and in Hancock County in particular, there is a great need for children to get enough to eat. Which is why we are continuing our partnership with the Maine Education Association and WABI TV5.

WABI TV5 recently had our owner, Mark Politte, and MEA President Lois Kilby-Chesley on the air live from Stanley Subaru to talk about our food drive and the efforts to alleviate the food insecurity facing our community.
“When we get into the classroom with students that are hungry, what we see is that they can’t focus, it is really difficult for them to do even the basic learning,” said MEA President Lois Kilby-Chesley.
“I would encourage everybody to do a little homework in their own communities and discover the level of need among the kids and how many kids are going hungry and how many teachers are buying food for these kids out of their own pockets,” said Stanley Subaru owner Mark Politte.

We are still collecting food through the end of the month. If you can donate non-perishable items, our collection sites are the MEA building on Broadway in Bangor, Stanley Subaru here on the Bar Harbor Road in Ellsworth, or WABI TV5 on Hildreth Street in Bangor.
