Q: What makes a Certified
Pre-Owned Subaru different from any other used Subaru?
A: A lot! In order for your
Pre-owned Subaru to even qualify for certification, if must pass a
stringent 152-point inspection. All items that do not pass must be
corrected in order to qualify for certification.
Q: What are some of the items
on this 152-point inspection?
A: We road test the vehicle and
check the undercarriage. We check fluid levels, filters, wiper
blades, battery, tires and tire pressure, brakes, audio equipment,
power equipment (windows, locks, etc), exhaust system, cosmetics, air
conditioning and heater, defogger, clutch and operation of automatic
transmission, cruise-control and power moonroof (to name a few). The entire 152-point check list is listed at the bottom of this page. Check it out!
Q: OK, its thoroughly
inspected and reconditioned, but what kind of protection will my
Certified Pre-Owned Subaru have?
A: The standard mechanical
breakdown protection plan on a Subaru Certified Pre-Owned vehicle is 7 years/100,000 mile powertrain protection plan. This plan covers the
following: Engine=Engine block, cylinder heads, all internal
lubricated parts, camshaft, drive belts, intake manifold, flywheel,
valve covers, oil sending unit, oil pan, oil pump, motor mounts,
seals and gaskets, turbocharger assembly and fuel injection system.
All-Wheel Drive=Final drive housing/gear differential assembly, all
internal parts, axle shafts, constant velocity joints, propeller
shaft, center support bearings, universal joints, wheel bearings and
spindle, rear torsion bars and control arms, hub bearings, seals and
gaskets. Transmission=Transaxle case, all internal parts, torque
converter, transmission mounts, seals, and gaskets.
Q: Are there optional upgrades to
the standard Powertrain Coverage?
A: Yes. Optional upgrades
include the Classic and the Gold. Classic, which covers everything in
the standard coverage, PLUS:
Cooling and fuel=radiator, water pump,
fuel lines, fuel tank, engine fans, fan motors, heater core, fuel
sending unit.
Steering=Steering rack assembly and all internal parts,
steering column shaft and coupling, universal joints, power steering
pump, seals and gaskets. Front Suspension=MacPherson struts,
transverse link control arms, shafts and bushings, ball joints,
steering knuckles, wheel bearings, stabilizer bar and bushings, seals
and gaskets.
Air Conditioning=Compressor, condenser, evaporator,
expansion valve, blower motor, clutch and pulley, compressor seal,
receiver/dryer. Electrical=Alternator, voltage regulator, starter
motor and solenoid, wiring harness, engine management control unit,
power window motors, windshield wiper motors, analog dash gauges,
trip computer, clock, heater blower motor and switch, manually
operated switches, digital instrumentation cluster, horns, window
regulators, speedometer head, electrical relays, sunroof motor.
Brakes=Master cylinder, wheel cylinder, pressure holding valve (hill
holder), hydraulic lines and fittings, disc brake calipers, power
break assist unit, Antilock Brake System (ABS), Traction Control
System (TCS), seals and gaskets.
The Gold Upgrade Plan includes
EVERYTHING on your Subaru with the following exceptions: Scheduled
maintenance services and parts described in the Subaru Warranty and
Service booklet with your vehicle and other normal maintenance
services and parts including engine tune-ip, suspension alignment,
wheel balancing, filters, lubricants, engine coolant, fluids, wiper
blades, belts, hoses, spark plugs, brake pads, linings and shoes,
clutch disc and recharging of the air conditioning system, unless in
conjunction with the replacement of a covered air conditioning part.
Other parts not covered are glass, weatherstrips, lenses, sealed
beams, light bulbs, tires, hard and soft trim, catalytic converter,
brake rotors and drums, shock absorbers, battery, rust damage, wind
noise, squeaks, rattles and cable or linkage adjustment. Accessories
are covered only if factory installed or approved.
Q: Does the Subaru Certified
Pre-Owned program have a deductible?
A: The standard Powertrain
Coverage does not have a deductible. The upgrade plans are available
with $0, $50 and $100 options.
Q: What should I do if I have a
mechanical breakdown?
A: Try to get your Subaru back
to your Subaru dealer, unless further damage would result from
driving it. Otherwise, you can call our toll-free number for
roadside assistance. Added security is honored throughout the United
States and Canada.
