The Winter Boot Bash had a very active dance floor

The Acadia Winter Festival – a 10 day celebration of winter in Acadia National Park (ANP) and surrounding communities – took place February 26 through March 6th. The second half of the festival was hosted by Camp Beech Cliff, a year-round nonprofit outdoor education & recreation center located on Mount Desert Island. The camp is known for fun, innovative and quality Summer Camp programs that serve over 800 campers each year; their Acadia Leadership Institute team building and leadership programs with Hancock County School students; and year-round recreational community programs for all ages.

"Everything we do at [Camp Beech Cliff] is to get people connected with nature, each other and their best selves,” says Debra Deal, Executive Director. The Acadia Winter Festival was a celebration of winter in Acadia National Park and surrounding communities and culminated in Camp Beech Cliff's Winter Boot Bash, a benefit dance to raise funds for camp programs. "Winter is a magical time of year to investigate wildlife, reunite with old friends over a cup of cocoa, learn a new skill, and enjoy a fun winter activity.”

The week concluded with the Winter Boot Bash, a benefit dance to raise funds for camp programs. The camp was transformed into a winter wonderland with lighting, ice sculptures and the island’s first ice bar.

The ice bar was quite popular; many patrons braved the cold for a few minutes to get a good cocktail

“I didn’t want it to feel like a gala. I wanted something unique and fun that would get people dancing in their winter boots,” said Michele Marks, Director of Development for the camp. There were fine appetizers at tasting stations, raffles, and a silent auction for guests to peruse. Everything was donated by area restaurants and businesses. “Business sponsors made it possible for the ice sculptures and bar. Stanley Subaru even brought a photo booth! We are indebted to so many local businesses and guests whose generosity will give kids big smiles and life changing moments at camp.”

The photo booth at the Winter Boot Bash brought in quite a few people, including Camp Beech Cliff staff

Stanley Subaru's Spencer Patterson King says, “We are so grateful to be a part of such a supportive and active community. We are really excited about ways, like the photo booth at the Winter Boot Bash, we can help these wonderful organizations share their mission.”

We have had a lot of fun with our new photobooth, and we want to keep supporting our friends and neighbors! If you are running or know someone running a community event (like the Winter Boot Bash, Jesup Memorial Library's Oscars Night fundraiser, or SPCA of Hancock County's rockabilly dance fundraiser), let us know!
