Did you know Maine Coast Memorial Hospital has Courtesy Valet Parking?

When you arrive at the newly redesigned Main Entrance, you may meet a nice fellow named Selly, who will happily help you out of your car, lead you to the entrance, and then park your vehicle for you. Selly Blethen has been one of the Volunteer Valets at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for the 20 years they have provided the service.

We paid a visit to MCMH on a particularly snowy first day of March and met Selly Blethen who was all smiles and good cheer. His 'office' is a small area between the two automatic doors at the main entrance. He has a comfy chair, his coffee, and the daily crossword standing by, just in case traffic is slow. Selly is one of many Volunteer Valets, part of an even larger team of volunteers at the hospital.

Selly retired from a full career at Lane Construction 20 years ago and was in search of volunteer work to keep active and help the community. With his wife beside him, they volunteered for 20 years together at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Although she 'retired' from volunteering last year, Selly is still going strong.

For those needing assistance, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital offers courtesy valet parking from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday, year-round. For the past couple years, Stanley Subaru has partnered with Maine Coast Memorial Hospital to provide the Volunteer Valets with warm, double-layer winter jackets. The Lands End fleece-lined jackets keep Selly and the other valets warm and dry while they carry out their duties at the main entrance. To help promote the courtesy valet parking services available at Maine Coast, Stanley Subaru's own Courtesy Shuttle Driver, Victor, will also be wearing one of the blue jackets.
