Yesterday we took advantage of an excuse to visit some of our favorite people in our community: we delivered 84 large, sealed (and comfy!) blankets to the Mary Dow Center at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital and to the Beth C Wright Cancer Resource Center for the patients and heapings of pink Hershey Kisses for the staff.

We knew exactly who we wanted to help when we signed up to be part of Subaru Loves to Care. We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can. Together, Stanley Subaru, Subaru, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will again spread hope, love and warmth by donating and delivering blankets to cancer patients being treated at our local hospital.

Why blankets? Often patients going through cancer treatment are cold. The rooms they receive their treatment in can be chilly and often the patients have less body fat to keep them warm. The blankets we are providing can offer warmth and comfort to these patients at this difficult time in their lives.

Tanya, the Nurse Manager of the Mary Dow Center, said she has dedicated closet space for blankets but has a hard time keeping any on hand, because they're so welcomed by patients.

We couldn't ask for better neighbors in our community, and we're so glad we got the chance to help how we can.
