The Smart Choice!

The Stanley Subaru Scoop

Last week we discussed Certified Pre-Owned Subarus and briefly touched on CARFAX Vehicle History Reports. Stanley Subaru provides Free CARFAX Reports on ALL Pre-Owned vehicles for sale and those reports can be viewed on our website, here in the dealership, and by scanning the QR codes on our window stickers. Below is a sample CARFAX report:

If you look on the CARFAX website for the report, you have to pay for the report, most recent data shows it can cost about $35, and about $55 for as many as 5 CARFAX Reports. If you are considering purchasing a vehicle somewhere other than a dealership, it is worth paying the price for the CARFAX report to ensure your potential vehicle's past is an open book as opposed to a scary mystery. Here at Stanley Subaru, we pay the fee of the CARFAX report for you and even list EVERY CARFAX report on our website in the vehicle details, free of charge! It's even a little exciting to discover the history of your vehicle, where it has traveled, and what services has been performed.

Have you ever wondered what your VIN number really means? It's not just a jumble of letters and numbers, nor is it a secret code meant to mystify vehicle owners. Take a look at this infographic from CARFAX about decoding the VIN on your car:

My Subaru Forester was built in Japan, as the initial "J" appears first in my VIN number.  Subaru models made in Japan are the Forester and the Impreza. Subaru models made here in the US are the Legacy, Outback, and Tribeca. It is likely that Subaru's newest models, the XV Crosstrek and the BRZ, will be built in Japan. For me it's worth it to pay for costly reports as long as the reports are really good and reliable. Remember that reports are important blueprints. You will be able to track down facts when you have detailed and supported reports.
